Employment is one of the most difficult issues for prospective migrants to deal with.

It s extremely difficult for applicants who are not in New Zealand to apply for and obtain jobs here.

The reality is that a large number of applicants approved for residency do not have a job offer from a New Zealand employer.

Our experience with migrants has been that they are special people who are determined to succeed in their new country and almost invariably do so - through hard work and commitment.

We are not employment consultants and cannot guarantee you a job. Indeed obtaining a job offer from a New Zealand employer when you are not in New Zealand is extremely difficult.

WORK VISA/PERMITS AND EMPLOYMENT FOR TECHNICIANS

The reality for most applicants looking to relocate to New Zealand under the Skilled Migrant category is the requirement to have an offer of skilled employment in New Zealand.

In the last 5 years we have-in association with Employment Consultant, AutoTech Recruitment (2007) Ltd - assisted hundreds of applicants from overseas to obtain skilled employment in New Zealand.

We interview applicants personally offshore and if selected, arrange visas for you to travel to New Zealand for job interviews to be arranged by AutoTech Recruitment (2007) Ltd. Visit www.automotiverecruitment.co.nz for more information.

We then apply for 2-3 year Work Permits and generally after 1 year working in New Zealand, applicants are eligible to be considered for Permanent Residence.

While working in New Zealand, you are also able to bring your partner/spouse and dependant children here.

Applicants are required by New Zealand Employers to have a high standard of English.

The area of skills that are in demand in New Zealand in the Technical field include:

  • Automotive Technicians (qualified and preferably with a franchise background)
  • Diesel Mechanics
  • Heavy Equipment Mechanics
  • Construction Equipment Mechanics
  • Fork Hoist Technicians
  • Fabricator/Welders
  • Fitter/Welders
  • Welders with MIG and TIG experience to ASME IX standards, Alloy and Stainless Steel backgrounds
  • Boat Builders (Fit out)
  • Panel Beaters
  • Car Painters (Auto Refinishers)
  • Outboard Motor Mechanics

However, we are obviously very much aware of the importance of employment to new migrants.
